Silence is Golden
One of my ways of dealing with foolishness in Silence.
Often times when dealing with someone on the phone they say really stupid things. My response: Silence.
My co-worker Daniel, often says off the wall things. My response: Silence. He just said to me, "why don't you talk to me! I feel like I'm talking to the wall sometimes!." hahahaha! You are Daniel because you are talking foolishness.
I mean really what can I say? Sometimes people look for arguments and most of the time people just have no clue what they are saying. I love it when someone calls me and tells me how to do my job. If I ask you for something, its because I need it, not because I have nothing else to do. When you call me and say" I dont think you really need this piece of information," I remain quiet. When someone calls going off because they are mad about something, I will apologize as thats part of quality customer service. But if this person goes on and on and on, I remain quiet. Its funny too because when they finally stop themselves, they're on the other end, "hello? hello? are you still there?
Arguments are a two way street. I used to argue, but I realized a lot of time you are dealing with people who only hear what you are saying. They are not "listening." Listen and understand, then we can have a discussion. You don't have to like what I am saying or agree with it. Let's agree to disagree.
